Our Weekly Blog!

W/C 23rd February 2026

This week in English, we have been writing and editing our own fictional story pieces. I have been so impressed with the children’s vivid imaginations and their wonderful use of figurative language.

In Maths, we completed our end of unit tests and the children achieved some amazing scores – well done! We have now begun our new topic on length and perimeter. The children have made a strong start, carefully measuring objects and beginning to understand how to convert different units of measure accurately.

In French, the children enjoyed reading The Hungry Caterpillar. They are now rewriting parts of the story using their French vocabulary, including words for foods and colours. It has been wonderful to hear them confidently using their new language skills.

In RE, we learned about the Ten Commandments and discussed the reasons behind them. The children understood that Christians believe God gave these commandments because He wants people to be close to Him and to live good lives.

During PSHE, we had thoughtful discussions about hopes and dreams. The children shared their aspirations and talked about the steps they need to take to achieve them, including working hard, showing perseverance, and believing in themselves.

We finished our topic on Ancient Greece in History by exploring the wealth of knowledge the Ancient Greeks have given us. The children were fascinated to learn how Greek ideas still influence our lives today, from mathematics to medicine and the Olympics.

In Art, we experimented with printing techniques to create unique patterned pieces. The children loved seeing how repeating shapes and colours could form different designs.

In Science, we investigated friction. The children tested how objects moved across smooth and rough surfaces and observed how friction affects movement. They carried out their investigations carefully and made thoughtful observations.

A real highlight this week has been the children’s scores on their spelling and maths end of unit tests. It is clear that they are working very hard and really understand the learning we are covering – well done Class 2!
