Here is what we’ve been up to in Class 2 this week…
In English, we continued exploring the key features of instruction writing. We’ve begun planning our upcoming ‘big write’ where we will be creating our own set of instructions on how to make the perfect sandwich. We are focusing on making our writing clear, detailed and easy to follow.
In Maths, we have been building our confidence with volume and capacity. The children have worked well when converting measurements and even expressing them as fractions. It’s been great to see growing independence in this area.
In RE, we started our new topic on places of worship. We learned about different buildings used for worship across a range of religions and discussed their importance to believers. The class showed thoughtful curiosity and respect when exploring these ideas.
In French, we began our new topic, ‘On the Farm’. The children have been learning how to say and write the names of different farm animals, and practicing their pronunciation.
In Science, we wrapped up our topic on plants by completing our investigations. We discovered that our radish seeds grew the most when they were exposed to more light. The children did a fantastic job observing, recording and discussing their results.
In History, we learned about who ruled Ancient Egypt. Some children impressed me with their prior knowledge about pharaohs, which helped to enrich our discussions and deepen understanding across the class.
In Art, we started our new topic, ‘My Favourite Things’. We explored continuous line drawing and experimented with how this technique can be used to create interesting and expressive pieces of art.
In PE, we had a very active week. On Wednesday, we practiced for the upcoming tennis tournament with Andy, focusing on our skills and teamwork. On Friday, we worked with Cricket Chris to develop our hand-eye coordination through throwing and catching activities.
