Class 2

Class 2 covers Year 3 and Year 4. In Class 2, children combine essential skills in English and maths with exciting opportunities across foundation subjects. Learning is creative and engaging, with opportunities for children to explore their ideas and build confidence across all areas of the curriculum.

A big focus in Class 2 is Reading for Pleasure. Our cosy reading corner encourages children to enjoy books and share their favourites with each other. We know that reading widely and regularly helps children become more confident readers and writers.

Times tables are a key skill that we work on daily. Practicing them at home helps with all areas of mathematics. If you have a child currently in Year 4, they will be participating in the multiplication tables check in June. The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics.

To support learning at home, homework is sent out every Friday, including weekly spellings every Monday. Children have their own logins for Spelling Shed, where they can practice their spellings through fun games and challenges.
