Our Weekly Update from Mrs Bowe...
16 January 2026
It has been a great week across all year groups. There has been an incredible amount of hard work happening in every classroom.
The refining of our school-wide expectations at the start of this term has had a considerable impact; this increased rigor is reflected in the exceptional quality of the children's work this week. The pride the children are taking in their tasks is evident - our classrooms are buzzing with focus and ambition! In particular, we are seeing some brilliant writing across the whole school! Well done children!
Our commitment to every child’s progress remains our top priority. Group and individual interventions take place every single day. These sessions are designed with two goals in mind:
1. To provide extra scaffolding to help children master new concepts.
2. To push and challenge children even further to ensure that there is no limit on what our children can achieve.
It has been wonderful to see our after-school clubs so well attended this week! Seeing the children engage in new skills outside of the standard curriculum is fantastic. Thank you for your continued support in getting the children involved.
Next week, Class 3 will be heading out to Nelson Thomlinson School to attend a Careers Event. This is a brilliant opportunity for our pupils to start thinking about the future and meet professionals from various industries. We believe it is never too early to start dreaming big. This event isn't about choosing a job; it’s about opening doors, showing them just how many opportunities are waiting for them. They will see how the Maths, English, and Science they learn in class today are used by professionals every day and have the opportunity to ask questions and meet new people. We want every child to feel that no path is closed to them.
Our Christian value this half term is ‘Friendship’. As a school community, we have been reinforcing the importance of positive friendships. We will be reinforcing to the children about how being a good friend is the ultimate reflection of our Golden Rules. Whether it is "Kind Hands" during play or "Kind Words" when a classmate is struggling, healthy friendships are the foundation of a happy school. We are encouraging the children to think about how their actions impact others, ensuring that our school is a safe, welcoming space for everyone.
