Our Weekly Update from Mrs Bowe...
10 October 2025
We ended this week with a very important focus: ‘World Mental Health Day’. In our assembly today, we discussed how to be 'kind to our mind'—just as we look after our bodies, we must look after our thoughts and feelings. We encouraged the children to practice three simple steps when they have "big feelings":
• Talk to a trusted grown-up
• Move their bodies to release energy,
• Rest when their minds feel too busy.
We would really like for this chat to continue at home, because talking openly about feelings is so important for your child's development.
This week we were incredibly proud of our Year 5/6 Netball Team! They played 3 great matches at their tournament at Netherhall School on Wednesday and secured a great win in their last match, with two super goals scored by Alfie. The whole team represented the school brilliantly, showed good teamwork and sportsmanship – well done everyone!
I am astounded at the amazing start we have had to our Great Tech Trek fundraiser, which has already raised £820! We are so grateful for all of the generous donations and support. The fundraising will run until October 24th, so there is still plenty of time to contribute and help us continue reaching for the stars! Everyone is warmly welcome to join us on our walk from Allonby to the Moody Cow on Wednesday 22nd October, 1:30pm. Come and join the fun!
Parents’ Evenings are next week. Communication between home and school is vital for children’s learning and well-being, so please ensure you have contacted your child's class teacher to make an appointment if you have not yet done so.
Everyone is also invited to join us for our annual Harvest Festival on Thursday, October 16th, at 9:00 am. The children have been busy learning about harvest and are keen to share this with you at the service. As part of our celebration, we will also be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to the local foodbank, any contributions would be greatly appreciated.
Looking ahead, we are holding a Bake Sale on Tuesday 21st October, with all funds going to support Guide Dogs for the Blind. To make this a success, we would be very grateful for any donations of cakes/biscuits to sell on the day.
