Our Weekly Update from Mrs Bowe...
29 November 2024
Good afternoon,
We’ve come to the end of another very busy week in school – and it is not even December yet! Despite chicken pox and other germs doing the rounds, going through the classes I am seeing lots of fantastic learning taking place, in particular some amazing writing from our oldest children in school, in Class 3, who have been writing biographies this week. I would like to take this opportunity to send get well wishes to all those children who are poorly, please pass on to them that we can’t wait to see them when they feel better.
Matt Richards, the curate from Aspatria, shared an assembly with us on Tuesday, teaching us all about the need to be compassionate to others. Stuart from North Lakes Foodbank also visited, bringing ‘Timmy Tuna’ with him, whom the children love.
Class 1 really enjoyed the dodgeball tournament they attended at Netherhall School on Wednesday. They demonstrated good sportsmanship and were excellent representatives of our little school.
Mrs Jenkins and the children in Class 2 visited Maryport on Thursday, learning about what life was like in the town in the past and how it has changed. They enjoyed a tour of the harbour and noticed many things that they hadn’t before.
If you ordered Christmas cards/gifts with your child’s design on them, they will be bringing them home today. Through the orders that were made, £13.96 was raised for school funds – thank you!
You have also received a letter via email about our Christmas Shop that is very kindly being run by The Friends of Crosscanonby School on Friday 13th December. We believe this is a fantastic opportunity for our children because they will all get the opportunity to choose gifts of appreciation for their family and friends at cheap prices (£2 per present). It also helps them to learn the act of ‘Service’ – bringing joy to others through their actions, which is one of our Christian values.
Next week, dare I say it, is a little quieter – the calm before Christmas…
*Monday - Crosscanonby Baby and Toddler Group in the school hall - 1:30pm-3:00pm
*Monday - Cricket After-School Club
*Wednesday - Whole school - PE with Andy (PE kit needed)
*Wednesday - Multi-Skills After-School Club
*Thursday – Film After-School Club
Our Class Blogs will be updated by the end of today, giving you a more detailed insight into your child's week at school.
Thank you for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend!
