Remembrance Day 2020
11 November 2020
The children were delighted to reconnect with Reverend Day this week via her 'Zoom' Remembrance assembly. She encouraged them to remember all those who fought and died both in the World Wars, and in other conflicts around the world, so that we can live in a country of peace now.
Reverend Day showed us her very own ceramic poppy, which is one of the 888,274 that were displayed in London in 2018 to mark the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War - sadly, each of these poppies represents a person that died during this war. Like each person, each poppy is totally unique.
As a school, we prayed and spent some quiet time thinking about those from our locality who died in the wars - their names can be read on our church's war memorial.
'Lest we forget.
We will remember them'.
